The Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) Publications Project Management Guidelines 2019, outline a framework for the phased approach to the development, management and delivery of major national road schemes in Ireland. The guidelines are structured so as to ensure consistency in this approach throughout the entire national road network. The guidelines divide the evolution and progression of the scheme into 7 phases:
- Phase 1 – Concept and Feasibility
- Phase 2 – Options Selection
- Phase 3 – Design and Environmental Evaluation
- Phase 4 – The Statutory Processes
- Phase 5 – Enabling and Procurement
- Phase 6 – Construction and Implementation
- Phase 7 – Closeout and Review
The current commission of the N4 Carrick-on-Shannon to Dromod Project is for the delivery of Phase 1 to 4 of the project management guidelines. The phases are described in further detail at the links above.
